Join our online campaign to support the first International Day to End Impunity
As part of our activities for the first International Day to End Impunity (IDEI) on Nov. 23, 2011, the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility hopes you can join the online IDEI campaign.
Download our media kit for the Nov. 21 IDEI Blog Action Day here.
Adopt the Slogan
CMFR will adopt a slogan that will be carried in all online campaign efforts (CMFR’s dedicated microsite on the campaign http://cmfr-phil.org/endimpunityinph, Twitter, Facebook, among others). The slogan “Pangulong Aquino: Ilan pang mamamahayag ang kailangang mapatay? Kilos na! (President Benigno Aquino III: How many more members of media have to die? Act now to End the Killings!”. The call to President Aquino reminds him of his campaign promise to address the killing of journalists (and other extrajudicial killings) in the Philippines.
The slogan can be used to call on the President to solve other extrajudicial killings, replacing the word “media” with “aktibista” (activist), priests, etc.
You can call the attention of (or “tag”) the Aquino’s communications team in social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook to the slogan. You can also use and spread the slogan in their networks.
CMFR will ask victims and/or colleagues of the slain journalists to join the campaign by using the slogan: “Pangulong Aquino: Hustisya para sa (aking tatay, nanay, kapatid/the person’s relation to the slain journalist)”.
Blog Action Day
CMFR hopes to encourage bloggers and social media users to join its IDEI Blog Action Day on Nov. 21, 2011, or two days before the actual IDEI. On Blog Action Day, bloggers and social media users will write and discuss IDEI and issues related to the campaign.
CMFR will prepare and distribute IDEI-related materials to bloggers, social media users, and interested individuals and organizations. Materials will include analyses, background information, and stories in text and multimedia format.
Twitter and Facebook hashtag
In order to create a unique identity for the campaign online, and to categorize Twitter updates about the campaign, CMFR will use the hastags #endimpunityinPH #kilosna #IDEI #Nov23 for the campaign. Facebook and Twitter users who want to join the IDEI campaign are encouraged to use the hashtag in their status updates.
We will appreciate if you or your organization can join our online campaign and share this information to your respective networks.
We are looking forward to your eager participation in our IDEI campaign.
