TV cameraman assaulted in Caloocan

CMFR/PHILIPPINES – A television cameraman was mauled by three men when he took  videos of guests who thronged  a resort in Caloocan on 10 May 2020. Caloocan is under modified enhanced community quarantine that does not allow any kind of mass gathering.      

In a dzRH interview, Arnel Tugade said that three men walked towards him and started punching while he was taking footage of guests leaving the Gubat sa Ciudad Resort after the management compelled them to leave due to a surprise inspection by local officials and the police. Tugade said that prior to the incident, several guests were already blaming media coverage for cutting short their resort visit. 

Tugade sustained several bruises and cuts on his face and was rushed to the hospital after the incident. 

The Caloocan police said two of the suspects had been arrested, but the third  managed to escape.

Meanwhile, the local government  ordered the closure of Gubat sa Ciudad Resort and is already tracking the around 120 guests to make them undergo Covid-19 swab testing and to be quarantined.
