Reporter gunned down in his home in Davao del Sur
CMFR/PHILIPPINES – Still unidentified suspects shot and killed a reporter on 30 October 2021 in Davao del Sur. Davao del Sur is 1,522 kilometers south of Manila.
Newsline Philippines reporter Orlando “Dondon” Dinoy was shot inside his apartment in Banlasan, Davao del Sur at around 6 p.m.
According to Newsline Philippines, Dinoy was cooking dinner when he heard the suspects calling from outside his apartment. When the victim opened the gate to check, one of the men started shooting him. Dinoy managed to run back inside the apartment but the gunman followed him while his cohort served as lookout.
The suspects fled the crime scene aboard a motorcycle leaving Dinoy dead with seven gunshot wounds all over his body.

Banlasan police confirmed the incident to CMFR and said they have created a taskforce to investigate the killing.
Dinoy reported community development stories for Newsline Philippines. He also anchored the teleradyo program Energy Balitanghali in 91.1 Energy FM Digos.
Newsline Philippines and Energy FM released separate statements demanding justice through a speedy investigation on the victim’s killing. The former also appealed to any witnesses to immediately “coordinate with the PNP” to help with the case.
If his killing proves to be work-related, Dinoy will be the 173rd journalist killed in the line of duty since 1986, and the 21st under President Rodrigo Duterte’s watch.
