Battle-weary victims ask: When will this stop?

The March 3 article “28,000 flee in Maguindanao” focused on the families in Maguindanao province displaced by the military offensive against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters who have been forced to move to evacuation centers. The number of evacuees, according to the Inquirer, has reached over 123,000.

“We were forced to evacuate. We have no choice lest we all die here,” an evacuee told the paper. “We walked for three kilometers and had to cross rivers in the middle of the night.”
