UP Gawad Plaridel 2014 Nomination Period Extended
The University of the Philippines College of Mass Communication (UP CMC) is still accepting nominations for the UP Gawad Plaridel 2014. The deadline for nominations has been extended to May 15.
The UP Gawad Plaridel honors Filipino media practitioners who “have excelled in any of media platform and have performed with the highest level of professional integrity in the interest of public service.”
For this year, the UP Gawad Plaridel award will be given to an outstanding “transmedia” practitioner. All Filipino media practitioners who excel in at least two media platforms may be nominated.
Interested individuals, media institutions and non-government organizations may nominate potential awardees.
Guidelines and nomination forms are available at the UP CMC website or at the UP CMC Office of Extension and External Relations.

Thomson Reuters editorial judgment course
The Thomson Reuters Foundation is accepting applications for a week long editorial judgment training program.
All full-time journalists and regular contributors to broadcast media organizations may apply. Applicants must have at least three years of professional experience and must have a good command of both written and spoken English.
Interested applicants must submit a 250-word biography outlining their career, two recent samples of published work or sample scripts with brief summaries for broadcast journalists, and a 200 to 500 word statement describing the factors affecting their work as a journalist and explaining how the course will benefit them.
Chosen applicants will have a chance to go to London and attend the course from July 28 to August 1, 2014.
The deadline for applications is May 23.
