The confusing Tribune

Jeers to The Daily Tribune for confused reportage. The paper reported last July 25 (“AFP, MILF urged to keep mum on Basilan conflict”) that the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) have been in war with the government for the past 25 years. The Tribune, however, reported the previous day that the secessionist group’s battle with the government has been 29 years long (“MILF warns of escalated war; troops wait for assault signal”).

A breakaway group from the Moro National Liberation Front led by Hashim Salamat, MILF was formed on Dec. 26, 1977 – or 29 years ago.
