Hear ye, hear ye, Filipino journalists

Interested in gaining practical journalism experience in the U.S.?

The International Journalism Exchange is now accepting applications until June 1.

The International Center for Journalists’ International Journalism Exchange will bring ten mid-career newspaper editors with at least five years’ experience from the developing world to the U.S. from October 8 to November 7 in 2007.

Participants will spend a week in Washington, D.C. where they will get to meet editors at major U.S. newspapers and learn about journalism in the capital. Then, they will head out to different parts of the country to work at a newspaper with about the same size circulation as the newspaper they left in their home country. There, the editors will spend several weeks observing and learning about all aspects of producing a U.S. newspaper, and are invited to exchange ideas and information with the host newsroom staff and local community. The program ends with a two-day event in New York where, in addition to touring the city and visiting media organizations, participants will get to visit the country’s most prestigious newspaper, the New York Times.
