Exciting changes in JVO awards
This year, the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility (CMFR) is introducing an innovation in the selection process for the Jaime V. Ongpin Awards for Excellence in Journalism (JVOAEJ).
Reports produced by the daily newspapers will be judged separately from those produced by non-daily publications or media organizations. Thus, there will be two sets of first, second and third prizes for investigative journalism and explanatory reporting: one set will be awarded to articles written by journalists from daily newspapers and another set for those written by journalists from non-daily publications or media organizations.
While CMFR continues to conduct an independent scan to identify qualified articles and reports, we are inviting you to send your nominations for the awards which will be given in June 2006 (usually the last Thursday of the month). Reports should have been published in print media from January to December 2005.
The scanning and screening process makes sure that articles are included for evaluation, whether or not these are nominated. The secretariat has also found that entry forms help CMFR maintain a database for reference. We can email you the entry forms, just contact us via staff@cmfr-phil.org
Then, submit completed forms and photocopies of the reports to our office at 2/F Ateneo Professional Schools Salcedo, #130 H.V. dela Costa St., Salcedo Village, Makati City on or before February 17, 2006. ###
