Global Security Coverage seminar
Trust Media, a Thomson Reuters Foundation Service, is accepting applications to the 6th Global Security Coverage seminar.
The Global Security Coverage seminar aims to “improve the quality of reporting on security and terrorism across the globe.” All participants will have the chance to attend a series of presentations and discussions in addressing current security and terrorism issues.
Print, broadcast and online journalists worldwide may apply.
Interested applicants must have at least five years of experience in the field and must be fluent in English. Journalists from countries with serious security issues are encouraged to apply.
All applicants must apply through the Thomson Reuters website. The application also requires a 250-word motivation statement explaining why the applicant wishes to take part in the seminar; a 400-word answer to the question, “When covering terrorism and conflict how can journalists report impartially and avoid being manipulated?ā; and two recent work samples.
Deadline for applications is onĀ June 30.

EcoHealth conference scholarships for journalists
The World Federation of Science Journalists (WFSJ) is accepting applications for scholarships for the Conference of the International Association for Ecology and Health (Ecohealth).
EcoHealth provides an “an opportunity to address issues ranging from environmental impact on human and animal health and transmission of infectious diseases, to conservation and ecosystem management, to rural and urban development and planning.”
All freelance or fulltime journalists worldwide specializing in health and the environment reporting may apply.
Interested applicants must submit a resume, coordinates, identification pages of passport, three published articles, video or audio productions on health and environmental issues, and a one-page essay answering the questions, “why they should be selected” and “what they will do if they win the scholarship” electronically atĀ info@wfsj.org.
Eight journalists will be selected and will have an opportunity to deal with experts in the field of health and the environment, build linkages and create collaborations with businesses, community groups, policy makers and fellow media practitioners. The scholars are expected to publish a story on the various issues addressed during the conference.
The conference will be held at Montreal, Canada onĀ August 11 to 15, 2014.
