And now for the important news: Zubiri’s butt

The Philippine Star reported Sen. Anna Consuelo “Jamby” Madrigal‘s compliment on Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri‘s buttocks in its Aug. 14 front page.

The Star did not explain why Madrigal’s compliment on a fellow senator’s butt was so important that it deserved a front-page treatment. The report, however, also provided background information that Madrigal was not always well-mannered, having uttered the word “ass” before in expressing her frustrations against her colleagues who readily cooperate with Senate President Manuel Villar.

But the Star‘s fascination with this topic did not end there. It published another report on the subject the next day, with Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile asking why his posterior was not being complimented and Sen. Miriam Santiago‘s surprise with Madrigal’s action.
