Visual Media Advocacy Training available

The Organization for Visual Progression (OVP), a new organization that focuses on using visual media as a tool to document human rights abuses and social justice issues, partnered with the University of the Philippines – Mindanao, Social Science Department to organize a comprehensive two week-Visual Media Advocacy Training on April 27 in Davao.

The training will cover advocacy strategies, visual literacy skills, technical video production skills, as well as hands-on production and field assignments. The objective is to guide the participants to become active visual media producers and effective ambassadors of the stories and issues they focus on. The training concentrates on producing a series of short advocacy films that will be publicly screened.

Anyone interested in the training is asked to complete the attached application form and send it to applications@visualprogression.org by April 5th, 2009. Participants will be announced no later than April 10th.

The training has a participant fee that includes manual and all other administrative costs, but not lodging and food. Applicants may avail of a reduced fee.
