CMFR initiated its Press Freedom Protection program in the early nineties with a monitor of cases of journalists killed and developed an analytical framework of the cases that has directed campaigns and advocacy efforts, including journalist protection and safety, and the ongoing campaign to end impunity.<\/p>\n

CMFR has kept a database of journalists killed in the line of duty since 1986. It has also started tracking other threats and attacks against journalists in the mid 90\u2019s.<\/p>\n

This interactive database has two components: (1) information of journalists killed since 1986, and (2) other threats and attacks since June 30, 2016.<\/p>\n

The microsite presents information on the number of journalists killed and cases of threats and attacks against the press in areas in the Philippines, the profiles of the journalists killed, the demographics and related information, including the status of cases in the courts.<\/p>\n

This section of the CMFR website was made possible with support provided by the European Union through the Asian Institute of Journalism and Communication (AIJC).<\/p>\n
