Police finds lead in killer of cameraman
CMFR/ PHILIPPINES – The Philippine National Police has a possible lead on the killing of a cameraman and driver of the local franchise holder of Cable News Network (CNN) on June 25 in Imus, Cavite. Cavite Province is 49.62 kilometers south of Manila.
CNN Philippines assistant cameraman and driver Jonathan Oldanwas shot dead by an unidentified gunman near a bakery at Bukaneg St., Brgy. Pinagbuklod, Imus, Cavite. Â Oldan sustained eight gunshot wounds, three of them in the head. The gunman fled after shooting Oldan.
According to the police, Oldan had an exchange of text messages with the possible gunman the day of the incident, and a personal grudge might be the motive for the killing. But if proven work-related, the killing of Oldan will be the 148th case of a journalist killed in the line of duty since 1986, the second this year and the 27th under the Aquino administration.
CNN Philippines released an official statement on June 25 condemning the killing of Oldan.
