Former Government TV Cameraman Gunned Down

CMFR/PHILIPPINES – Unidentified man riding a motorcycle shot and killed a former cameraman of the government television network in Tagum City on 1 July 2019. Tagum City in Davao del Norte is 1433 kilometers south of Manila.

Former PTV News cameraman Reymund Faciol was about to enter the gate of his apartment in Barangay Mankilam when the suspect shot him several times.

Faciol was a cameraman of PTV Davao del Norte and the Provincial Public Information Office for eight years before his contract ended a day before he was killed.

The police told CMFR that they are trying to recover CCTV footage of the incident. The investigating team is looking at all possible angles in the killing including personal grudges and work-related issues.

If proven work-related, the killing of Faciol will be the 13^th under the Duterte administration, and the second from Davao. His killing will then be the 165^th since 1986.
