UP Gawad Plaridel opens nominations
THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines College of Mass Communication is now accepting nominations for the 2013 Gawad Plaridel.
Now on its ninth year, the award will be given to an outstanding print/online/community journalist with “a body of work that is marked by excellence and social relevance and must have achievements recognized nationally and/or internationally.”
Award guidelines and the nomination form can be accessed through the website of the college. The deadline for nominations is on March 30, 2013.
Named after Spanish era reformist-journalist Marcelo H. del Pilar, the UP Gawad Plaridel annually recognizes Filipino media practitioners who “have excelled in any of the media (print, radio, film, television, and new media) and have performed with the highest level of professional integrity in the interest of public service.”
Past awardees include Eggie Apostol, Vilma Santos, Fidela “Tiya Dey” Magpayo, Cecilia “Cheche” Lazaro, Pachico Seares, Kidlat Tahimik, Eloisa “Lola Sela” Cruz-Canlas, and Florence “Rosa Rosal” Gayda.
