Warren, 70
AMERICAN NEWSPAPER photographer Earl Warren died last July 22. He was 70.

Warren was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in feature photography in 1970.
In a statement on Warren’s death, former Democrat photographer Ray Stanyard said: “Earl liked to go to rural areas and find people he thought were interesting. He was very good at that.”
Democrat writer and editor Mary Ann Lindley said: “Earl was such a character, always joking. He was kind of sardonic, always seeing the ironic craziness of a situation. And he was a really artistic photographer, really into the story telling of journalism, not just snapping pictures.”
Pocha, 46
INDIAN JOURNALIST and editor Jehangir Pocha died of cardiac arrest last July 12. He was 46.
Pocha was the editor-in-chief of NewsX, a television station based in New Delhi. He also worked as a foreign correspondent for the San Francisco Chronicle and The Boston Globe. (Journalist Jehangir Pocha succumbs to cardiac arrest, India West)

Zareen Karani Araoz, president of the Massachusetts-based company Managing Across Cultures, said: “Jehangir was a very respected journalist, and had started his own entrepreneurial News Channel in Delhi, mentoring many others, who really looked up to him, and gaining the respect of the media community. He was always on the cutting edge of things, and gave his own unique and candid perspectives on them, with humor and sharp intellect.”
