Obit: McNichol, 54
American investigative reporter Dunstan McNichol of New Jersey (NJ) died Jan. 4 in his home. He was 54.

McNichol was a veteran reporter covering the State House (the seat of government in a state) for 10 years under the Star-Ledger, a local paper in NJ. The Star-Ledger’s coverage of the resignation of then Gov. James Edward McGreevey in 2004, in which McNichol was a part, earned the newspaper a Pulitzer Price for Breaking News Reporting the following year.
Prior to writing for the Star-Ledger, he worked for another local paper, The Record. In 1996, he co-wrote a 13-part series on the state government’s environmental policy. This series won several journalism awards, including the John B. Oakes Award for Distinguished Environmental Journalism. McNichol later joined the finance team of Bloomberg News.
