Casting light on the “lemon” bill
Cheers to the Philippine Daily Inquirer for casting light on a bill that involves protecting the rights of consumers, particularly buyers of brand new cars.
“Is the Lemon Law ripe for the picking?” Inquirer asked last Sept. 7 (p. B2-1). The report discussed House Bill 4841 (“An Act Strengthening Consumer Protection in the Purchase of Brand New Motor Vehicles”—or the Lemon Law of 2011) which can provide a legal perspective protecting both consumers and manufacturers.
The report gathered the reaction of stakeholders to the issue, including a car writer, a road safety advocate, officials of car companies, and a former president of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines.
