Biased

JEERS to ABS-CBN 2’s Bandila for a biased report on former Batangas Governor Antonio Leviste on the alleged special treatment given to rich prisoners in the New Bilibid Prison.

“Buhay preso at kulay preso na uli si dating Batangas Governor Antonio Leviste sa suot niyang uniporme. Kwento ng Bureau of Corrections, umangal pa ang gobernador nang tanggalin ang kanyang living out privileges at ibalik siya sa maximum security facility.” (Gov. Leviste is back in prison uniform, and has complained about losing his living out privileges and being returned to the maximum security facility.)

Bandila’s report aired on May 20, and was focused only on Leviste’s unlawful action and the alleged anomalies in the country’s justice system. The report did not get the side of either Leviste or the Bureau of Corrections on the “special treatment” issue.

“Para sa ilang legal experts, patunay lang ito na bulok na ang sistema ng hustisya sa bansa.”

“Paniwala din nila, dito na masusubok kung kaya ng bagong administrasyon na linisin ang isang kabulukan na ilang dekada ng umiiral.” (For some legal experts, this was proof of how rotten the justice system is.  The capacity of the administration to clean it up will be tested.)
