A progress report
CHEERS TO the news organizations which reviewed President Benigno Aquino III’s campaign and inaugural promises in time for the 2011 State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The GMA News special “Pangako ni PNoy (PNoy’s promises)” discussed what has happened to the campaign and inaugural promises of Aquino. The five part-series was a progress report on the priority areas of the current administration: transformational leadership and government service, gender equality, peace and order, the environment, and the economy.
The special report was packed with soundbites and quotations from the President’s speeches, infographics, data files, and statistics. GMA News delivered their research and analysis in a way that did not overwhelm viewers. Interviews with ordinary folk, government officials, and experts complemented the reporting of the numbers.
Primetime news program 24 Oras aired the special report from July 18 to 22. GMA News uploaded the videos online.
The news website abs-cbnNEWS.com updated its microsection that has been monitoring how far Aquino’s promises last year are being met. News items related to the promises were also linked in the micro-section. (http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/aquino-promises)
