Violence in Abra

CHEERS TO Vera Files for a report on Abra’s culture of violence, which intensifies during  elections.

The report  “Election season means freedom for Abra inmates,” was posted last October 8 on its website.

It quoted Ilokano essays Abra prison  inmates themselves have written on how violence is perpetuated through the province during elections, exposing the practice of politicians of bailing out inmates and hiring  them as gunmen in time for the elections.

The report also got the side of police officials in the province on how they are curbing  violence for the next elections and maintaining the relative peace they  achieved in 2010.

The report ended citing a study that affirms violence being normal for people and Abra, in effect reminding the readers to keep vigilant of the situation in the province.
