Misleading headline

JEERS TO Inquirer.net for a misleading headline.

In the Oct. 20 article “Makati not among six PH cities most at risk of HIV”,  the Inquirer reported that cities with the highest reported cases of persons living with HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) were Pasay, Quezon City, Cebu, Davao, and Angeles City.

HIV is a virus that attacks the immune system.

Makati was not mentioned in the story. Neither did the story explain why Makati was included in the headline of the story. There were previous reports on a survey conducted by dating website SeekingArrangement.com that ranked Makati as the 3rd most promiscuous city in Asia, which the Makati government disputed. However, this information was not included in the report.

Twitter user @GrnPnSth flagged the Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility on Twitter about the misleading headline.
