Looking back at Yolanda survivors

CHEERS TO the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) for its microsite’s tracing how the international financial aid to the victims of Typhoon “Yolanda” (international name: Haiyan) has been managed and used.

Funded by international development charity Christian Aid, “Disaster Aid: The money trail” reviewed how the government has used and managed the huge financial aid for the victims of and damages wrought by Yolanda, the most powerful storm to make landfall in the country’s recorded history .

“(T)he findings and recommendations are meant to feed into the policy discourse on Republic Act No. 10121 (The Philippine Risk Reduction and Management Plan of 2010) review and the Yolanda budget process,” PCIJ said in the microsite, which contains not only special reports but also data tables, videos, and photos of the stricken areas a week and a year after the typhoon.
