Statistical Appreciation Seminar for Media Practitioners
The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) is calling for applications for its “Statistical Appreciation Seminar for Media Practitioners.”
The NSCB seminar aims to assist media practitioners in doing their duty as “communicators of official statistics” more efficiently. Through the one-day seminar, the board also hopes “to enhance its understanding and awareness of the media’s needs, insights, and perspectives on statistics.”
The one-day seminar is open to all journalists with beats in the fields of economics, business, and related areas.
The Statistical Appreciation Seminar for Media Practitioner will be held on September 21. Interested journalists may call NSCB at (632) 896-7981 or 890-8456 or email them at info@nscb.gov.ph and pje.baroy@nscb.gov.ph to preregister.

Asia Journalism Fellowship 2014
The 2014 Asia Journalism Fellowship of Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University is now accepting applications.
The Asia Journalism Fellowship aims to “provide journalists the opportunity to sharpen professional skills, deepen domain knowledge, strengthen commitment to journalism’s mission, and form lifelong friendships across the region.”
All journalists residing in Asia are welcome to apply. But applicants must have at least five years of professional journalism experience and currently working in the field.
Applicants must submit a completed application form, an employer’s letter of support, three letters of recommendation and three to five samples of past works. The requirements may be sent through email at applications@ajf.sg or through post mail at Asia Journalism Fellowship, c/o SiRC, Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University, 31 Nanyang Link, Singapore 637718.
The deadline for applications is October 25, 5 pm (Singapore time).

Chevening Scholarship Program for 2014-2015
The Chevening Scholarship Program is now open for applications.
The Scholarships are among the UK government’s global scholarship program. It honors “outstanding scholars with leadership potential” from all over the world to study postgraduate courses, including journalism, in several universities in the United Kingdom.
Interested applicants must have two to five years’ working experience and must be fluent in the English language.
The scholarship includes a monthly stipend, travel to and from the scholar’s country via an approved route, an arrival and excess baggage allowance, a thesis or dissertation grant, the cost of an entry clearance visa, and tuition fees.
Applications will be accepted only until November 15.
