Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows Program

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is accepting applications for the Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows Program.

The Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellows program aims to “enable democratic practitioners, scholars and journalists to deepen their understanding of democracy and enhance their ability to promote democratic change.”

All journalists worldwide may apply for the fellowship.

Interested applicants must register online at the NED fellowship website to apply. Applicants must also submit a resume, the project proposal, letters of recommendation and certification during the application.

Fellows are expected to be in residence at the International Forum for Democratic Studies for five months and to work full-time on their fellowship projects. The fellowship will cover reimbursement of travel costs and health insurance, and a monthly stipend for living costs.

Deadline for application is October 15.

2014 UNCA Awards

The United Nations Correspondents Associations (UNCA) is accepting entries for the 2014 UNCA Awards for best coverage of the United Nations (UN) and UN agencies.

All print, broadcast, and online journalists worldwide may apply for the awards.

The UNCA Awards honors journalists for their outstanding coverage of UN and UN agencies. Issues which include “Millennium Developments Goals, peacekeeping operations, and (nuclear weapons) nonproliferation” are welcome.

The UNCA will give four awards this year: The Elizabeth Neuffer Memorial Prize for print and online coverage of the UN and the UN agencies; The Ricardo Ortega Memorial Prize for broadcast coverage of the UN and the UN agencies; The Prince Albert II of Monaco and UNCA Global Prize for coverage of climate change; and The United Nations Foundation Prize for coverage of humanitarian and development aspects of the U.N. and U.N. agencies.

All entries should have been published between September 2013 to August 2014. Interested applicants may submit entries online by completing the UNCA Awards entry form at the UNCA website.

Deadline for submission is September 15.
