10th Lasallian Scholarum Awards

De La Salle University named the winners of the 10th Lasallian Scholarum Awards last September 3.

The Awards honor outstanding media coverage of Filipino youth and education issues by journalists including campus journalists. The theme of this year’s awards is “Voices that Matter,” which seeks media coverage that raises “concerns and encourages proactive initiatives toward the development of the country’s educational system.”

This year’s winners are:

Outstanding Televised Feature Story on Youth and Education – “Salat” by Ma. Aileen Gutierrez and the production team of Reel Time, GMA News TV

Outstanding Published Photograph on Youth and Education – “Watch and learn” by Danny Pata, Manila Standard Today

Outstanding Published Feature Article on Youth and Education in a Nationally-circulated Publication – “On both sides of the law” by Nathalie Tomada, The Philippine Star

Outstanding Published Column Article on Youth and Education – “The care of our children” by Randy David, Philippine Daily Inquirer

Outstanding Published Feature Article on Youth and Education in a School Organ – “Blaming the victim” by Ronn Joshua C. Bautista, UP Collegian

Outstanding Feature Story – “Change management” by Rachel C. Barawid, Manila Bulletin

Online Feature Story for Youth and Education – “Circus Science: Putting big ideas under the big top” by Shaira Panela, gmanetwork.com

 

Climate Change Media Awards

The Climate Change Commission in partnership with the Philippine Network of Environmental Journalists is accepting entries for the Climate Change Media Awards.

The Climate Change Media Awards recognize Filipino journalists for “their outstanding coverage of climate related issues and critical role in promoting awareness of climate change through the production of engaging and eye-opening news and current affairs reports.”

The Awards are open to full-time and freelance journalists and photojournalists.

Entries must be works published or broadcast from October 5, 2012 to October 5, 2013. They must be submitted electronically via email at climatechangeawardsph@gmail.com.

All entries must be submitted on or before October 10.

Population Institute 34th Global Media Awards

The Population Institute is accepting entries for the 34th Global Media Awards.

The Awards recognize journalists, producers, and writers who contributed to “creating awareness on population and family planning though their journalistic endeavors.”

Submitted entries must exhibit outstanding journalistic work on population-related topics. They must be published or aired between September 1, 2012 and August 31, 2013.

Entries must be sent via post at Global Media Awards Program, Population Institute, 107 Second Street NE Washington, DC 20002.
The deadline for submission is September 27, 2013.
