Uncovering Security: Emerging Threats Training Program

JOURNALISTS FROM developing countries, the USA, Canada or Germany are invited to apply to “Uncovering Security: Emerging Threats”, a training program organized by the Thomson Reuters Foundation.
The program offers :1) a three-day residential story lab from October 19 to 22, 2016 in London, 2) the opportunity to apply for small grants covering the cost of reporting stories, 3) access to experienced journalists who have covered security stories and 4) support with pitching stories to international publication platforms.
Interested applicants must submit a story idea related to an emerging security situation in a specific community, country or region. Possible topics include climate change, genocide and atrocity crimes, global peacekeeping, nuclear materials and migration.
Journalists working in any medium with at least three years of professional experience may apply. Fluency in English and endorsement of the applicant’s editor are required. Experience in covering security situations is an advantage.
Participation costs of successful applicants will be shouldered by the Foundation.
