Training Program on Elections Reporting

THEĀ THOMSON Reuters Foundation is offering a course on ethical and professional elections reporting.
The program aims to provide training for journalists who are covering elections through seminars and workshops discussing the role of media in promoting democratic elections and voter information, ethics and writing techniques, story sourcing and legal dangers.

Participants are expected to join in individual and team exercises. Mentoring will also be offered after the program.

Journalists covering the 2016 presidential elections in any medium (print, online, broadcast) are welcome to apply.

They must have at least two years of professional experience in reporting Philippine current affairs and politics.
Other application requirements are 1) a 250-word career outline, 2) two samples of recent published work, preferably elections-related, and with brief summary in English and 3) a 250-500 word statement explaining applicant’s expectations from the course and challenges in covering elections. The foundation can fund travel expenses and accommodation for participants from outside Metro Manila.

The course starts on March 14 and ends on March 16. Application deadline is on February 8. For more details, visit this page.
