PPI Elects New Officers

THE PHILIPPINE Press Institute (PPI) has elected its new officers.
Manila Standard publisher Rolando Estabillo is the PPI’s new chairman and president. He will replace outgoing chairperson Alfonso Pedroche, editor-in-chief of Pilipino Star Ngayon.
The other officers PPI are:
- Amelia Cabusao (Mindanao Times), vice president and Regional Trustee for Mindanao
- Joenald Rayos (Pahayagang Balikas), treasurer and Regional Trustee for Luzon
- Dexter See (Herald Express), corporate secretary and Regional Trustee for Luzon
- Alex Rey Pal (The Dumaguete Metropost), Regional Trustee for Visayas
- Dalmacio Grafil (Leyte Samar Daily Express), Regional Trustee for Visayas
- Adrian Michael Amatong (The Mindanao Observer), Regional Trustee for Mindanao
As part of its 55th founding anniversary, the PPI also held the 23rd National Press Forum on July 4 and 5 in Manila, with the theme “Governance, Media, and Democracy: Building Better Communities,” with former Senator Aquilino Pimentel Jr. as the keynote speaker.
PPI capped the forum with its 2018 Civic Journalism Community Press Awards. The following news organizations received citations:
