PCIJ Accepting Applications for Training Seminar on Election Coverage
THE PHILIPPINE Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) is accepting applications for its training-seminar on covering elections this November 26-29, 2018 in Quezon City. Researchers, writers, reporters, anchors, producers, editors, news managers, contributors, and stringers of print, TV, radio and online media with at least five years of experience may apply. Citizen media and bloggers covering public policy issues or members of the academe teaching journalism and communication courses are also encouraged to apply.
Established in 1989, PCIJ is an independent, non-profit media agency specializing in investigative reporting. It funds investigative projects for print, broadcast and online media. Besides conducting seminars on journalism and public policy issues, PCIJ also publishes books and produces video documentaries.
PCIJ’s seminar will discuss topics “by content peg” and “by skill set.”
Under the content peg category, participants will have the opportunity to learn about elections, party politics, political clans, campaign finance, inclusive elections, election violence, access to information and investigative journalism.
Meanwhile, data journalism and investigative research methods are some of the topics under the skill set category.
Interested applicants must accomplish the application form and submit a 300-word statement of motivation on or before October 19, 2018. Applicants will be selected based on their experience in covering elections, their interest in doing in-depth reportage of election issues and their plans to re-echo the training within their respective institution or media organization.
PCIJ will cover board and lodging expenses, as well as the participants’ round-trip transportation fares from their place of work and/or residence to the venue.
