IWMF Courage in Journalism Awards
FULL-TIME OR freelance women journalists can now be nominated for the Courage in Journalism Awards sponsored by the International Women’s Media Foundation (IWMF).
The awards aim to recognize women journalists who have reported under duress and exhibited “extraordinary strength of character, bravery and perseverance in reporting the news.” Those working in print, broadcast,or online media in any country may be nominated. Self-nominations will not be accepted.
The requirements include: 1) description of conditions under which the candidate works, 2) description of instances when the journalist faced danger because of her work, 3) a nomination statement, and 4) examples of the candidate’s work. Nominators are also encouraged to read previous winners’ biographies.
Submissions in English, French, Russian and Spanish are preferred, but submissions in any other language will be considered.
Winners will receive cash prizes and will travel to the United Stated for the awarding ceremonies.
