ICSC calls for applicants for Klima Fellowship 2024

THE INSTITUTE for Climate and Sustainable Cities (ICSC), an international non-government advocacy group for fair climate policies and development, has announced the search for fellows for its Jaime Espina Klima Correspondents Fellowship 2024.

Its Facebook post on October 8 said the Klima Fellowship is open to journalists and visual storytellers in the Philippines who work across all platforms (print, television, digital or radio).

The five-month fellowship includes a story grant of up to PHP100,000, in-person learning sessions, consultations with media and energy experts, and publication of outputs on ICSC and fellows’ media outlets.

Applicants must form a team of two, composed of one writer and one visual storyteller, submit a signed letter of intent and commitment to the fellowship, a letter of support from the media organization they are affiliated with, and an accomplished ICSC-provided story proposal template to be submitted here. The deadline for applications is November 1.

Started in 2022, the fellowship was named after the late journalist Jose Jaime “Nonoy” Espina, whose reportage on environmental issues “helped shape the media landscape of local climate narratives today.”

ICSC said the program aims to “support media practitioners in telling stories centered on underreported climate and energy narratives in the Philippines.” For more information, visit https://icsc.ngo/klimafellowship/.
