Rappler recognized in 2015 World Summit Awards
Online media organization Rappler has been recognized as one of the five winners in the e-Media and Journalism category of the United Nations-based World Summit Awards (WSA) this year.
Rappler was chosen as one of 40 “best and most innovative digital innovations” from all over the world with “high impact on society”. Rappler uses the Mood Meter, a patented crowdsourcing tool that determines how the news network’s stories make people feel, thereby promoting active news coverage and user consumption.
Aside from Rappler, other winners in the e-Media and Journalism category are Center for Investigative Reporting (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Your Story (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland), Social Net Link (Senegal) and Imagga (Bulgaria).
Representing innovations from 24 countries, the 40 winners were selected from nominations by 86 UN member states. Other categories of the WSA are e-Business and Commerce, e-Learning and Science, e-Culture and Tourism, e-Health and Environment, e-Entertainment and Games, and e-Inclusion and Empowerment.
