PCIJ Investigative Reporting Seminar
The Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism is inviting journalists and media practitioners to a series of four four-day investigative reporting seminars on transparency in elections and investigative research methods to be held in Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and Metro Manila from May-September 2015.
Stringers of different media platforms and citizen journalists and bloggers covering public policy issues are also encouraged to apply. Speakers will include experts from constitutional commissions and agencies of the executive branch, academic and research institutions, civil society groups, data repository agencies, political parties, and media organizations.
Application requirements include the downloadable application form and at least two work samples discussing public policy, development, human rights, or governance issues. PCIJ will cover the round-trip transportation fare and board and lodging of the selected participants.
Deadlines for the submission of applications are as follows: April 10 for Visayas, May 15 for Mindanao, June 11 for Luzon, and July 10 for Metro Manila. For other information, visit this page, or contact the PCIJ Training Desk at (02) 434-6193 or training@pcij.org.
Data Journalism Awards 2015
The Global Editors Network is accepting entries to the 2015 Data Journalism Awards, which recognizes outstanding data-driven investigations, stories and applications covering socially-relevant matters.
Media companies, non-profit organizations and freelancers or individuals are all qualified to join. Entries must have been published or aired between April 10, 2014 and April 4, 2015, and can be individual work or a series of works. All submissions must be in English; entries in other languages will be accepted provided that English translations are included.
A cash prize of 1,500 euros will be awarded to each winner in the following ten categories: data visualization of the year, investigation of the year, news data app of the year, data journalism website of the year, best individual portfolio, best use of data in a breaking news story, open data award, best entry for a small newsroom, Jurors’ Choice, and Public Choice.
