Holcim Philippines-PPI Journalism Awards for Sustainable Construction Reporting (JASCOR)
Filipino journalists working for a print media outfit are invited to send entries to the Holcim-Philippine Press Institute Journalism Awards for Sustainable Construction (JASCOR).
Stories must delve into the subject of sustainable construction relevant or applicable to the Philippine setting and its impact on development. These must be original, by-lined, and published from August 1, 2014 to July 31, 2015.
The story that best promotes the understanding and appreciation of the value and benefit of sustainable construction will be awarded the Sustainable Construction Story of the Year and will receive a cash prize of PhP 50,000 and a plaque. One story each will be selected from two categories: the National Newspaper category and the Community Newspaper category.
A Merit Award for Sustainable Construction Reporting and a cash prize of PhP 75,000 will be given to the newspaper which has the most number of entries that make it to the shortlist of finalists.
Entries must be submitted to the Philippine Press Institute office and must be postmarked not later than July 15, 2015. For more details, visit the JASCOR page.
The 1st Rio de Quingua National Photography Competition
Professional and amateur photographers are encouraged to join the 1st Rio de Quingua National Photography Competition to be held at a venue along Angat river at the border of Pulilan and Plaridel, Bulacan.
This event aims to bring together various photography organizations from all over the country in a friendly competition that highlights the condition of the deteriorating Rio de Quingua or Angat River, and to promote environmental conservation and heritage preservation in the Philippine countryside.
Interested participants must register and reserve online at the Rio de Quingua site at least a week before entering the competition area. Registration fee is P500. Personal registration and confirmation will be at the Rio de Quingua Secretariat, Pulilan Municipal Hall. The competition will end at 5:00 PM of April 19, 2015. The deadline for the submission of entries for the elimination round is at 5:00 PM of April 20, 2015.
The top three winners will each receive a cash prize and a trophy. Five consolation Prizes of P5,000 each and three Special Awards for Best Short Poetry Interpretation will also be awarded.
