ABS-CBN names three new leaders; Toral named new ABS-CBN News Head

ON FEBRUARY 13, ABS-CBN announced that Mary Anne Francis Toral has been named the new head of ABS-CBN News, along with Nadia Trinidad as News Digital Media head and Alvaro Dan “Baroy” Morga as ANC head.

Toral succeeded Regina “Ging” Reyes who retired in December, while Trinidad succeeded Lynda Jumilla who also retired in the same month. 

Toral, a 25-year veteran in ABS-CBN News, previously served as ABS-CBN News’ Production Head and was instrumental in the 2022 Halalan coverage. She produced various programs including “The World Tonight” with Angelo Castro Jr. and Tina Monzon Palma, “Talkback” with Monzon Palma, and “Beyond Politics” with Jumilla. Toral was also in charge of the special coverage of the visit of Pope Francis to the Philippines in 2015 and “PILIPINAS 2016”, the presidential hall debate held in Pangasinan. She also led ABS-CBN News’ DocuCentral group which gained it several awards.

She graduated magna cum laude from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Broadcast Communication in 1998. In 2009, she was awarded the Benigno and Corazon Aquino Fellowship by the US Embassy in Manila.

Meanwhile, Trinidad is now responsible for ABS-CBN Online and its digital news properties. She was previously head of ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC). Beginning as a reporter and news advisory anchor for Studio 23, she took on bigger roles such as being the North America Bureau Chief in 2011, News Production head in 2013, and managing director in 2021. She is a Communications graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University and holds a postgraduate degree from Stanford University as a John S. Knight Journalism fellow.

As ANC head, Baroy Morga is in charge of ANC’s content production and its editorial production teams. He previously worked as ABS-CBN News’ head of Strategy and New Business. Baroy graduated from Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in Economics.
