THE RORY PECK AWARDS, the only awards aimed at honoring freelance camerapersons, is now open for applications.

Established in 1995, the award is named after freelance cameraman Rory Peck who was killed while filming in Moscow. It aims to “celebrate creative, technical and journalism skills, and highlight the important contribution that freelancers make to the newsgathering industry.”

There are three award categories:  1) the Rory Peck Award for News (maximum duration of 10 minutes), 2) the Rory Peck Award for News Features (maximum duration of 30 minutes) and 3) the Sony Impact Award for Current Affairs (maximum duration of 60 minutes).

Entries must have been broadcast between June 1, 2015 and June 30, 2016, and broadcast in English or accompanied by an English translation. Only one entry per category is allowed.

The Rory Peck Awards are free to enter. Deadline for submission of entries is on August 1. For more details, visit the Rory Peck 2016 Awards page.
