CMFR/ Philippines - The mayor of Iloilo City threatened to bar newspapers that will publish “malicious reports” about the city government and the International River Summit from covering the Summit. Iloilo City is approximately 464 kilometers south of Manila.

CMFR/PHILIPPINES – A radio commentator and station manager in Bugasong, Antique received a death threat in his Facebook account last 18 May 2012. Bugasong, Antique is 412 kilometers south of Manila.

Local electric cooperative exec files libel charges against correspondent


The Masbate City Prosecutor’s Office has recommended the filing of libel charges against a journalist accused of maligning an official of the provincial electrical cooperative. The journalist claimed he has not been informed that a libel complaint had been filed against him at the prosecutor’s office.
