Oxfam Pilipinas calls for stories on gender issues in PH


OXFAM Pilipinas, a part of the international confederation Oxfam working with communities in 90 countries, is offering journalists a one-time grant of PHP 15,000 for journalists to write stories on gender issues in the Philippines.

CHIEF EDITORIAL cartoonist of the Philippine Star for 33 years since 1987, Rene Aranda passed away in his home in Pasay City on August 24 of lung cancer. He was 66. 

Melvyn Calderon, 70


PHOTOJOURNALIST MELVYN Calderon, fondly called the “Panginoon” (God) of Philippine photojournalism, passed away at the age of 70 after a lingering illness on August 13, Saturday.

FORMER CAGAYAN de Oro mayor and radio commentator Reuben Canoy passed away on July 5. He was cremated hours after he suffered cardiac arrest at a hospital in Cagayan De Oro. He was 93.
