Society of Environmental Journalists grants for environmental journalism
The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) is offering grants for environmental journalism projects.
SEJ’s Fund for Environmental Journalism (FEJ) is meant to “provide incentives and support to qualified journalists and news organizations to enhance the quantity and quality of environmental journalism.”
Journalists who are working in the editorial staff or independently in any news organization worldwide are qualified for the grant.
Interested applicants should submit a resume, a completed application form, a three to five page project description, the amount requested, the project’s full budget including the portion for the proposed FEJ support, and other supplemental materials.
The grant should cover expenses of projects related to travel, training, research and other processes for the completion of an environmental journalism project.
Deadline of submission is on November 15.

Thomson Reuters Fellowships
The Thomson Reuters Journalism Fellowships is accepting applications for 2014-2015. It is an “opportunity for experienced journalists wishing to undertake research projects on a variety of subjects.”
The fellowship program allows participants to visit and conduct research in Oxford. Journalists from all over the world are welcome to apply.
Interested applicants must have a minimum of five years of experience in the field and should be able to speak and write in English well. A participant must complete the application form which can be found at https://reutersinstitute.politics.ox.ac.uk/fellowships/fellowship-application-form.html and must attach other required materials when applying.
The fellows will have the opportunity to “critically reflect upon their profession, to research a subject of their choice under the supervision of an academic specializing in that area, and to enjoy the breadth of academic, cultural and social life at the University of Oxford.”
The deadline for the fellowships is 30 January 2014.

Atlanta Photo Journalism Seminar photography competition
The Atlanta Photo Journalism Seminar is holding a photography contest open to all photojournalists and news organizations.
Interested photojournalists may enter an individual photo or  group of photos in  any of the following categories: spot news, general news, feature, sports action, sports feature, portrait/personality, pictorial, news picture story, international news, feature picture story/essay, sports picture story, product illustration, issue illustration, multimedia slideshow and multimedia interactive presentation.
The submitted photographs except for picture stories must have been taken between 1 November 2012 and 15 October 2013. The photos do not necessarily need to have been published.
Deadline for submission of entries is November 4.
