Thomson Foundation Young Journalist Award

The Thomson Foundation Young Journalist Award is open for application.

Thomson Foundation Young Journalist Award is sponsored by the Thomson Foundation for the UK Foreign Press Associations (AFP) Awards. It seeks out young journalists in developing countries. Practicing journalists age 30 or below in countries with Growth Domestic Product (GDP) per capita of less than USD 20,000.00 are eligible for the awards.

Applicants are required to send an email of a letter of intention to submit an entry at awardfpa@thomsonfoundation.org. They will then be asked to submit a portfolio of three published works aired or released from September 18, 2012 to September 17, 2013.

All applications should be in on or before September 18.

Three finalists will be flown to London for the awards ceremony on November 19 with the chance of meeting the host and prominent figures in  journalism.

Parangal sa mga Kuwentong Kalusugan Pangkalahatan Health Media Awards

The Department of Health is still accepting entries for its “Parangal sa mga Kwentong Kalusugan Pangkalahatan” (PKKP) Health Media Awards.

The PKKP Health Media Awards aims to recognize Filipino journalists for stories and reports on health issues that promote and advocate universal health care for a better quality of life. Health stories on universal health care including issues related to social health insurance, health facilities, and attainment of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) such as safe motherhood, child nutrition, and family planning may be submitted.

Submitted entries should have been published or released from January 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013. They may be submitted through email at lakbaykalusugan@gmail.com or via post mail at Parangal sa mga Kuwentong Kalusugan Pangkalahatan, c/o Probe Media Foundation, Inc.116 Maginhawa Street,Teacher’s Village East, Quezon City 1101.

All entries should be in on or before August 31.

Recognition will be given during the awarding ceremony in September 2013.
