One-sided report

JEERS TO BusinessMirror for a one-sided report about the situation of Philippine civil aviation.

Last July 25, the paper published “Euro execs to PHL: Clean up aviation act” that discussed the “vintage” air-traffic management system of the Philippines. However, the report solely relied on a letter  Hubert d’Aboville, president of the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines [ECCP], had sent to then Secretary Manuel Roxas II of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and Secretary Ramon Jimenez of the Department of Tourism.

In his letter, D’Aboville mentioned the “supposedly unreported near-crashes close to the country’s premier Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in the past year.” D’Aboville also mentioned an incident where a “foreign airline about to land almost collided with a domestic carrier and, minutes later, narrowly avoided a second mid-air crash with another airplane.”

The report should have also included the side of Roxas and Jimenez to make the report fair and unbiased, but did not.
