CMFR’s Teodoro, 3 others feted
LUIS V. TEODORO, journalism professor and Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility’s deputy director, was one of this year’s recipients of the “Many Faces of the Teacher” awards.
The award is part of an advocacy campaign launched by Bato Balani Foundation and Diwa Learning Systems to recognize teachers who exemplify excellence in the profession.
The honorees were presented on Aug. 2 at the AIM Conference Center. In the press conference, Teodoro said that teaching is the least appreciated profession in this country. He expressed the hope that the prevailing notion that teaching is “something you just do because you can’t do anything else” would be changed through a campaign such as the one being waged by the foundation.
A teacher for 35 years at the University of the Philippines, Teodoro was joined in this year’s roster of honorees by Special Education teacher Elsa Duran of the Cotabato City Central Pilot School; philosophy professor Fr. Roque Angel Ferriols, S.J. of the Ateneo de Manila University; and Alternative Learning Systems mobile teacher Ronyla Santiago.
The awards ceremony will be held on Sept. 1 at the Araneta Coliseum.
