Mexican journalist’s body found
Authorities found the body of a Mexican journalist last August 25 in Culiacán, Sinoloa, a northwestern state in Mexico a day after he was abducted by unidentified armed men, Article 19 reported.
Online newspaper “A discusión” director Humberto Millán Salazar, 53, was found dead in Sinoloa a day after he and his brother were kidnapped, according to Sinoloa deputy attorney general Martin Robles Armenta.
Millán Salazar and his brother were reported kidnapped last August 24 by armed men as they were heading for the offices of Grupo Radio Formula in Culiacán, where the journalist hosted a political opinion program.
Humberto’s brother, according to a police report, was released unharmed on the day of abduction.
Millán Salazar had been a journalist for more than 30 years who specialized in political analysis. He worked with the “El Sol de Sinaloa” newspaper before he founded the “A discusión” in 1996 which was originally published in print form but switched to an online format in 2011.
Millán Salazar is one of eight journalists who murdered in Mexico this year according to International Press Institute Death Watch. (ARTICLE 19/IFEX)
