IFEX launches International Day to End Impunity Photo Contest

IFEX SECRETARIAT – im•pu•ni•ty im-‘pyü-nə-tē n. without punishment, without consequences

Get out your phones, digital cameras, tablets, or old school Polaroids! IFEX is launching a photography contest as part of the third annual International Day to End Impunity on 23 November. Deadline for entries is 3 November 2013.

Journalists, photographers, musicians, writers, human rights defenders and others continue to be sued, threatened, attacked and even murdered with impunity in many countries simply for exercising their right to free expression. Use your camera to symbolically show the ways that impunity impacts freedom of expression.

Our favourite photos will be featured on the International Day to End Impunity Facebook page, and the top three winners will receive cash prizes and will be profiled on the campaign website.

The contest is open to professional and amateur photographers wishing to show with creativity how a culture of impunity undermines freedom of expression.
