Leticia Boniol, 75

LETICIA “LETI” Boniol, an Inquirer.net editor passed away on June 14 due to a lingering illness. She was 75.
Boniol started with the Philippine Daily Inquirer in 2000. She was credited for helping shape Regions, the regional news section of the Inquirer. After her retirement,she joined the Inquirer.net in 2017, where she served as a copy editor for provincial stories.
Boniol is remembered for her dedication in guiding fellow regional correspondents in their coverages. Colleagues from local news bureaus have known Boniol for her gentleness towards co-journalists and strong commitment in putting “the voiceless and the silenced” in the mainstream press.
She also held several editorial positions in different publications including, the Philippine News and Features, The Philippine Post, and The Manila Times.
Boniol is survived by her seven siblings. Following her cremation on June 19, her ashes will be brought to her residence in Bay, Laguna on June 20.
