The end to the Malu Fernandez issue?
Within the next few minutes, TV Patrol World is going to air a report about controversial Manila Standard Today columnist Malu Fernandez. Initially, the program already said that Fernandez is apologizing amid public outrage over an article she wrote for People Asia. But a few minutes later, it stopped focusing on the angle that Fernandez is going to apologize. Instead, it is now angled at the indignation by overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on Fernandez’s article.
A few hours earlier, an alleged statement of Fernandez apologizing to what happened was already circulating online. “I am deeply apologetic for my insensitivity and the offensive manner in which this article was written, I hear you all and I am properly rebuked. It was truly not my intention to malign hurt or express prejudice against OFWs,” Fernandez allegedly wrote here,
adding that she already submitted her resignation letters to both the Manila Standard Today and People Asia. The statement, however, has not yet been verified whether it really came from Fernandez.
The apology does not sound like her. Personally I want to see her apologize on tv so I would know whether she is sincere; then we could forgive and move on.

Malu’s article + Editor + Publisher (People asia magazine & Manila std Today) = PUBLISHED & CIRCULATED
