PCIJ in Search of New Executive Director
THE PHILIPPINE Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) announced on January 6 the start of their search for a new executive director following Malou Mangahas’ retirement. Mangahas has been PCIJ’s executive director for 11 years.
In an article released on their website, PCIJ said Managahas has been a “leading light in defending press freedom and the right to information in the country.” Under Managahas’ leadership, the Center “has met the challenges of doing watchdog reporting under a more restrictive political environment, sustaining groundbreaking journalism built on a nonprofit model, and building massive relational databases on politics, politicians, elections, and public funds.” Mangahas will still write for PCIJ despite her retirement as its executive director.
For the post of Executive Director, PCIJ said it prefers candidates who:
- will work with the PCIJ board to define and implement a strategic vision that takes into account the changing news and information landscape;
- understand the digital and data worlds and new forms of storytelling and audience engagement; and,
- are familiar with investigative, data and digital journalism; journalism training, and civic engagement on media freedom, freedom of information, public accountability and good governance
Interested parties may submit their applications at search.pcij@gmail.com on or before March 31, 2020.
