RAPPLER INC. announced the composition of its 2019 Board of Directors November 5. Lawyer and former Ateneo School of Government (ASOG) Dean Tony La Viña is the only new member of the online news site’s board.

La Viña joined former socio-economic planning secretary Solita “Winnie” Monsod, veteran lawyer Fulgencio “Jun” S. Factoran Jr., technology entrepreneur Carlo Almendral, corporate lawyer Federico Prieto and founding members Maria A. Ressa and Glenda M. Gloria in the board. Co- founder and technology incubator entrepreneur Manny Ayala left the board this year.

In a tweet, La Viña said he believes in Rappler’s mission. He said there are risks that come with joining Rappler, but he knows that it will “emerge from this era stronger, better, bigger and more effective as a multimedia organization.” La Viña hopes to be part of Rappler’s growth and triumph as it stands its ground for the truth. “There is nothing sweeter than the good winning over the evil,” he added.
