COCONET II: Southeast Asia Digital Rights Camp

APPLICATIONS FOR “Connecting Communities & Networks” (COCONET), a platform for digital rights movement building in Southeast Asia, are now open. Filmmakers, researchers, journalists, human rights advocates and technologists from across Asia will gather for COCONET II, a digital rights camp on October 20-26, 2019 in Rizal, Philippines.
COCONET, named after the coconut plant that is widely grown and used in the Southeast Asian region, is aimed at enhancing regional networking and building collaborative efforts on digital rights issues. It is organized by EngageMedia, the Association for Progressive Communications (APC), the Southeast Asian Press Alliance (SEAPA) and a host of partners.
The camp will break down silos, catalyze regional networking and collaboration, develop skills, deepen relationships, spark campaigns and bring new actors into the digital rights field.
COCONET is open to activists and human rights defenders; open source advocates, digital security trainers and technologists supporting non-profits; creative change-makers, including artists, designers and filmmakers; journalists and bloggers; policy experts, including lawyers, researchers and academics from Southeast Asia. Applications from East and South Asia and Oceania are also welcome.
